Seminole County Hurricane Irma 9/9 Update

Seminole County, Fla. – Seminole County Emergency Management is fully activated at level one status. Residents are encouraged to visit www.PrepareSeminole.org or call the Citizens Information Line (407-665-0000) for updated information regarding Hurricane Irma.
Seminole County has issued a mandatory evacuation for mobile and manufactured homes for noon today, September 9. A voluntary evacuation has been issued for low-lying areas in Seminole County, also effective at noon today.
The following Seminole County shelters open at noon today, 9/9:
BENTLEY ELEMENTARY: Special Needs/Pet Friendly
HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY: Special Needs
LAKE MARY HIGH: General Population
LAWTON CHILES MIDDLE SCHOOL: General Population
LAYER ELEMENTARY: Special Needs
LYMAN HIGH: General Population/Pet Friendly
MIDWAY ELEMENTARY: General Population

Seminole County sandbag locations will be open from 7am – 7pm today, 9/9. These locations may run out of bags, however residents are encouraged to bring their own bags as there are still adequate amounts of sand. The City of Sanford sandbag operations are also open today until 5pm. Visit www.PrepareSeminole.org to find the closest location. Residents are reminded that they are responsible for proper disposal of the sandbags post-storm
