Seminole County Hurricane Irma 9/8 Update

Seminole County, Fla. – Seminole County Office of Emergency Management will be fully activated at level one tomorrow, September 8th. Residents are encouraged to visit PrepareSeminole.org for storm preparedness information or call the citizens information line at 407-665-0000. For storm-related inquiries specific to Seminole County businesses, please call the business hotline: 407-665-1839.
A host shelter specifically designated for evacuees will open at 5pm today, September 8, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Emergency Management is anticipated to open seven shelters midday tomorrow. Three of these will be designated for those with special needs, one of which is pet friendly. Four general population shelters will open, one of which is pet friendly. Seminole County Landfill: Closing at noon on Saturday, September 9.
Mandatory and Voluntary Evacuations:
Seminole County will activate a mandatory evacuation tomorrow, September 9, at noon for mobile and manufactured homes. A voluntary evacuation for low-lying areas will also activate tomorrow at noon.
County Sandbag Operations
*All three County distribution locations continue to supply sand bags. However, once a location no longer has bags, the location will remain open so that residents can bring their own bags to fill with the remaining sand. Please note: This is only for the three Seminole County sandbag distribution areas.
