Seminole County Fire Departments Rescued One Fire Victim - Five Transported

Seminole County,  FL  - July 28, 2017 – Seminole County Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Meadowlark Drive in the unincorporated area of Altamonte Springs at 2:35a.m. this morning.  Two (2) residents were reported to have exited the home and they reported one (1) resident was still inside.  An Altamonte Springs Law Enforcement Officer attempted to assist by breaking a window prior to SCFD’s arrival.  SCFD initiated a fire attack and began search and rescue efforts to locate the fire victim. 

Seminole County Fire Department’s crews located and rescued the male fire victim and began life saving measures utilizing a cyanokit and transported to Florida Hospital Altamonte.  The two (2) other fire occupants (one male and one female) were transported to Florida Hospital Altamonte.  The Altamonte Springs Law Enforcement Officer was transported by Altamonte Springs Police Department.  One (1) member from Longwood Fire Department was transported to South Seminole Hospital in Longwood.

Longwood Fire Department, Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and Altamonte Springs Police Department assisted on the scene. 

The extent of the fire damage was in the kitchen and there was smoke damage throughout the entire home.  There were no working smoke alarms in the home.  Seminole County Fire Department reminds citizens to test their smoke alarms monthly and replace any alarms that are older than 10 years old.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by both the Seminole County Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.  The State Fire Marshal’s Office will serve as the lead agency.
