Florida Communities Trust Grant Restructions/Funding Transferred from Jetta Point to Rolling Hills

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (February 9, 2017)- Yesterday, February 8, 2017, Seminole County was granted conditional approval from the Florida Communities Trust (FCT) Board to transfer the recreational development requirements from the Jetta Point property in the Oviedo/Winter Springs area to the former Rolling Hills Golf Club property.
The original Grant Award Agreement for the Jetta Point Park project included a requirement for the development of passive park features, including: a picnic pavilion; nature trails; a permanent recognition sign; interpretive signage; pedestrian and bicycle access; bicycle parking stands; a parking area and selective landscape improvements. In response to citizen concerns, the Board of County Commissioners halted work on the Jetta Point Park project in 2010. Since that time, the County has been seeking a suitable alternative site for the regional park project. The FCT’s conditional approval authorizes the relocation of the Jetta Point Park Grant Award Agreement requirements to the Rolling Hills Golf Club property contingent upon the successful acquisition of the property by Seminole County and satisfaction of the conditions set forth by the FCT Board.
The conditions of approval imposed by the FCT Board will be addressed during the due diligence period established in the County’s executed Contract for Sale and Purchase of Land, approved by the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners on October 26, 2016. This due diligence period ends on April 24, 2017, with the closing on the purchase of the property to occur 45 days later.
