Seminole County Fire Department Citizens Fire Academy Starts March 1

Seminole County Fire Departmentís next Citizens Fire Academy begins on March 1, 2017. The nine week course will provide both hands-on and classroom activities to give participants a first-hand look of the training and skills the Seminole County Fire Department needs to respond to our citizens' emergencies every day.

The target audience is all Seminole County residents. The nine week course will include the following topics:

  • Fire Department organizational overview, budget, and scope of services.
  • Self Contained Breath Apparatus and Search and Rescue techniques.
  • Fire Suppression
  • Emergency Communications
  • Life Safety, Fire Inspections, Pre-Incident Planning
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Facilities Tour/Apparatus Familiarization
  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Community Outreach and Information

The classes will begin on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 and end on April 26, 2017. The class size is limited to 25 participants. The sessions will be held at the Seminole County Fire-EMS Training Center located at 201 Valentine Way in Longwood or at the Public Safety Building located at 150 Eslinger Way in Sanford. Session times are from 6:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. Participants must be 18 years old to attend the program.
