SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (January 6, 2016) - Beginning Sunday, January 8, all Seminole County Library Branches will be open seven days per week for the first time since 2008. All Branches will operate Mondays-Thursdays, from 9:00AM until 8:00PM, Fridays and Saturdays, 9:00AM-5:00PM and on Sundays, 1:00-5:00PM.

The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners voted to reinstate the full week of operational hours in October 2016. The decision to improve accessibility for residents was approved unanimously. Hours were cut in 2008 as a cost-savings practice during the recession.

“This is important to all the Commissioners.  Our residents love their libraries.  It’s great to be able to have them open again seven days a week,” said Seminole County Chairman John Horan.

The Seminole County Library currently has over 314,000 library cardholders. In Fiscal Year 2015/16, the five Branches totaled 1,561,292 visitors and nearly 4.8 million virtual visits.
