Railroad Safety Awareness Week

The Seminole County CTST will be conducting railroad safety awareness education and enforcement operations on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at various highway-rail grade crossings in Seminole County in conjunction with " Train Safety Awareness Week" as proclaimed by Governor Jeb Bush.
457 highway-rail grade crossing crashes during the past five years resulted in 185 personal injuries and were responsible for 57 fatalities in the state of Florida. Trespassing on railroad property or rights-of-way resulted in 167 pedestrians fatalities and 120 injuries in the state of Florida. Currently, Florida ranks fourth in the nation in trespass fatalities.
