Seminole County Waterways Day

Posted on: 2/19/2003

On Saturday, March 1, 2003, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon, Seminole County, along with the City of Altamonte Springs, the City of Sanford, the Seminole County Public Schools, the Seminole County Sherriff's Department, the Central Florida Zoological Park, and the Florida Park Services are sponsoring the 2nd Annual Seminole County Waterways Day.

To Keep our commitment alive on educating citizens on the importance of keeping the waterways clean and health, Seminole County has designated seven (7) clean-up locations for this event. The locations are the Central Florida Zoological Park entrance (Lake Monroe sea wall), the Sanford Marina, C.S. Lee Park (Lake Harney), Lake Jesup Park, Environmental Studies Center (Soldiers Creek), Lake Lotus Park (Little Wekiva River), and the Wekiwa Springs State Park. With the help of volunteers over the past years, Seminole County has been able to remove more than 183,580 pounds of trash from our lakes and rivers.

Directly after the clean-up, to thank our volunteers, we will be having a Celebration at the Central Florida Zoological Park from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Entertainment will be provided by Two Weeks Notice, along with Organizations throught Central Florida setting up displays, raffle drawing and all volunteers will receive free admission into the Zoo and a Waterways Day T-shirt.
