Household Hazardous Waste Amnesty And Electronics Recycling Day

SEMINOLE COUNTY ANNUAL HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE AMNESTY DAY AND ELECTRONICS RECYCLING DAY


On Sunday, February 9, 2003, Seminole County will hold its Annual Household Hazardous Waste Amnesty Day at the Seminole County Central Transfer Station from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This is a free household hazardous waste collection for residents of Seminole County. Residents may bring in items from their homes such as automobile batteries, battery acid, lawn chemicals, pool chemicals, solvents, insecticides, pesticides, disinfectants, gasoline, used motor oil, oil based paints, and paint thinner.

This year, the event will also include the collection of old electronics for recycling. Residents may bring in items such as computers and computer accessories, cell phones and televisions from their homes.

Household hazardous waste disposal and electronics recycling are offered as a free service to Seminole County residents only. Businesses may contact the Solid Waste Management Division at 407-665-2260 to discuss options for disposal of hazardous wastes and/or electronics recycling programs.

Individuals will be asked to show proof of County residency to utilize these programs.
